Note was finally able to lay eyes on the one and only Tsunami Horn. His hand was still stuck in Tsurara’s grip however. And what a tight grip she had!

“It’s...it’s...”

“Large? Dark? Majestic? I know.” Tsurara said so that way Note didn’t have to think of a word.

The Tsunami Horn gave both Note and Tsurara a boring glare. Its tail was wrapped around its body and its wings were still injured.

“...not to mention....intimidating...” Note said softly.

The Tsunami Horn growled and narrowed its eyes slowly. Tsurara stood in front of Note and glared back at the Tsunami Horn. “Don’t let him get to you. If you do, he’ll take advantage of you or, worst case scenario, kill you.” Tsurara said to Note without looking at him.

The Tsunami Horn backed off and looked away from the two adolescences. He let out a snort as well.

Note remained staring at the Tsunami Horn, still frightened of it. “How-how do you know that?”

“You can learn a lot from sleeping under a beast. Or just being near one.”

Note nodded. “How do I prove to him that I’m the boss?”

“You’re not doing that. You’re just showing him that you’re assertive and that you have the potential to be the dominant one in most if not all situations at will. However, you also have to show you’re not a threat. He currently hates us because he thinks we shot him down and he’s what Melody calls ‘crippled’.”

“Would he be nicer if we told him who did it?”

“Probably. But we still have ties with the culprit so it’d probably make things either worst or not change at all.” Tsurara sat next to the Tsunami Horn. “Now listen. First you let him know you. You know, allow him to smell you and get a good look at you.” She gently touched the Tsunami Horn’s head.

The Tsunami Horn lifted up his head and stared at Tsurara, who then pointed at Note. He gave Note a boring look again. Tsurara guided him forward to examine Note, which he eventually did, though in a lazy fashion. Note held out his hand so that the Tsunami Horn could sniff it. But the Tsunami Horn didn’t bother. Instead, he picked up Note and held him high in the air before putting him down...and picking him up again...and setting him down again. Over and over and over again. It was after the 17th time that the Tsunami Horn finally stopped and sniffed his hand.

“There we go.” Tsurara said.

Note was a bit dizzy from going up and down in such a succession but was still able to stand on two feet. “Oh boy...say, does he have a name?”

“Not really. Trying to earn his complete trust before I put a name on him.”

“Maybe a name might do him some good, no? I mean, you’ve been treating him wounds and visiting him regularly for sure I bet. The least he could do for you is to let you name him.”

“The least he can do for me is give me his trust. I could care less about being able to identify him with a nickname. And why would he need one? He’s the only Tsunami Horn alive, no one is bound to be confused if I call him by his specimen name.”

“No but it’d still be pretty cool. Imagine befri--” Note then finally realized where Tsurara was getting at with the “I need his complete trust” idea. He paused and closed his mouth for a brief moment while the Tsunami Horn poked his hand with his claws. Then he finally spoke. “...you’re trying to tame him...aren’t you?”

Tsurara nodded. She had her arms folded. Note’s jaw dropped. “But you can’t bring him anywhere! And just imagine how furious your father would be if he found out you tamed a beast rather than killing it!”

“My father’s opinion hasn’t hurt me yet. And I won’t let it hurt me now. And besides...” Tsurara pulled out her dagger. “...you wouldn’t tell him, would you?” She began to point at Note with the dagger.

Note shook his head frantically. “No way! But....all I’m saying is it’s risky. Too risky.”

“It’s all too risky bringing you here. Yet here you are, alive and in flesh!” Tsurara put away her dagger.

“I guess you have a point...”

“Exactly.”

The Tsunami Horn backed away from Note’s hand and sat up with his tail almost looking like a spring being pressured in both the North and South direction(s). Tsurara grinned. “Good. Now prove yourself worthy.”

“How do I do that?” Note asked.

“Hmm...I’m not too sure on that. I just had a stare off with him and he went away. That’s when he started becoming more used to me and calmer in my presence. I’m sure you can do the same thing.”

“Well, you’re a girl. I bet he went easy on you...”

“My gender means nothing. Not unless I’m his species, which I’m not. Now do it.”

Note, with hesitation, looked at the Tsunami Horn directly in the eyes. The Tsunami Horn stared back, getting closer and closer to his face. His horn nearly hit Note’s head but Note moved his head out the way, though maintaining eye contact. Eventually, Note began approaching the Tsunami Horn and getting up in his face. He got so close, the Tsunami Horn was practically on a stone he backed into. That’s when he forfeited and gave Note the victory.

“Did I...”

“Yes. Now...well, I don’t think there’s much else to do other then getting to work on his chest area.”

Note took notice of the gold fluid on the Tsunami Horn’s chest. “...is that what I think it is?”

“I’m not sure. Guess we’ll find out together.” Tsurara began to feel around the Tsunami Horn’s chest area, making him growl. She pulled her hands away after a few minutes of feeling, only to have the gold fluid get all over her hands. She sniffed it and tilted her head.

“No scent.” She said as she stared at it.

“Maybe it’s paint.”

“Can’t be. It would’ve felt a lot less thicker.” Tsurara took a deep breath and licked the gold fluid off the index finger on her right hand. Note cringed and gagged.

“Eeewww!! You don’t even know what it is and you lick it!?”

Tsurara’s pupils dilated. “Blood.”

“What?!”

“It’s blood. I recognize the taste.”

“What kind of blood is gold?”

“Apparently his.” Tsurara pointed at the Tsunami Horn before looking around for something to clean her hands with.

“Wow...still, that was pretty nasty.”

“If you don’t know what it is, it is disgusting. Anyways, let’s get started on his chest. Here. Cover it with this first and I’ll do the rest.” Tsurara handed Note a jar of white muck.

Note took the jar and narrowed his eyes before taking off the lid and getting a big whiff of it. It smelled worst than it looked! He nearly dropped the jar and coughed before almost dropped backwards. “YUCK!!! What’s in this thing, bird feces and rotten cow milk!?”

Tsurara pulled the jar out of Note’s hands. “It’s medicine you careless fool! The herbs I used just make an awful scent when mixed together with fluids like water and grape juice.”

“Why is there grape juice in there?”

“Grape juice has its healing properties when mixed with these herbs. Now make yourself useful by getting some fish since you can’t apply the first layer of medicine.”

“Fine. It’s better than smelling that nasty stuff.” Note walked off, making the small stick in his pocket become a full-fledged staff again at the push of a button in the process.

Tsurara let out a sigh before applying the medicine onto the Tsunami Horn’s chest. The Tsunami Horn got a whiff of the medicine and coughed. He snarled and hissed at the scent and nearly knocked the living daylight out of Tsurara with his tail. However, Tsurara was able to avoid his tail and managed to get the medicine on his chest. Before Tsurara was able to get the second medicine jar from her satchel, Note came running back with seven koi fish on his staff.

“I got’em! I had to hurry up because the fish keep slipping off my staff.”

“That’s fine. I thought there was someone after you though. So be careful when you run in like that. It not only startles me but the Tsunami Horn here as well.”

The Tsunami Horn nodded in agreement. “See. Even he agrees.” Tsurara said.

“Fine. Sorry, TH.”

Tsurara and the Tsunami Horn tilted their heads and looked at one another before looking back at Note. “Who in the world is ‘TH’?” Tsurara asked with the Tsunami Horn nodding in agreement.

“It’s short for Tsunami Horn.”

Tsurara began to realize the connection between “TH” an “Tsunami Horn”. “Ooohhhh...I get it now.”

The Tsunami Horn was still puzzled. He roared and leaped away with the medicine still fresh on his chest. Tsurara let out a sigh and watched the Tsunami Horn flee. “There he goes again.”

“Yep.”

“Don’t bring up TH ever again.”

“Fine.”

Tsurara grabbed her things again and began to head home with Note following her. “I’ll have to make a medicine that can work fast. He runs away quickly.”

“Can I help?”

“No. This is something I must do alone. Just keep him a secret.”

Note nodded. “Got it. Lips sealed and only Zeus has the key.”

“Good. No one here would dare go against him. He would come down and kill those foolish enough to do so I bet.”

“Naaahh. He’d take a lightning bolt and throw it to the ground rather than waste his time coming down here just to kill a mortal that doesn’t even have a fourth of his strength. It’d just be stupid and pointless.”

“Eeehh, you got a point on that. You have to remember Athena came down here and challenged Arachne all those years ago. Are you saying that’s pointless?”

“No way in the world. People were actually talking abut her and saying that she has the skill matching Athena’s, maybe even better. But--”

“She proved Arachne wrong and turned her into the pests we call spiders.”

“Right.”

“Hmm...I guess I see your point then.”

“Good. It’s pretty valid if you ask me.”

“Very.”
